More June Activities...

June has been the month of: Emily's first haircut,
Caroline's first swim lessons,

Dancing downtown on the square with Madelyn and Hannah,

The first home-grown strawberry of the season,

and pure exhaustion.....
We're looking forward to July!

Where's Emily???

One Saturday morning we were busy with normal weekend chores and chaos. The girls were playing in their rooms. I went to check on them, only to find Emily was missing. I finally found her curled up in the living room chair, quietly reading a book, and relaxing. (I was jealous, as I couldn't curl up with her, but had to return to cleaning, etc.)

Mini Farm Day

June brought Mini Farm Day to one of the bank parking lots downtown. The girls enjoyed plenty of animals: Caroline really wants a kitten.
She thinks bunnies are pretty cool too.

Emily liked the goats.

It's not often that you get to pet a donkey!

Emily was obsessed with the Rooster.

Caroline had her first ride on a full size horse.

It was a lot of fun!

A Visit to Oak Park

May brought us to the Chicago area, where we spent some time visiting Oak Park. The weather was glorious for walking the neighborhoods filled with homes designed by Frank Lloyd Wright:

Frank Lloyd Wright's Oak Park Home

and studio...

One of our favorites - The Heurtley House

The Moore House

The Hills House

The Thomas House
We came away from the trip with many more ideas for more projects on our house! Jeff's already drawn up plans for built-in cabinets for the living room!

Happy Jack-In-The-Box

May brought Caroline's long awaited dance recital. She did a great job and had a lot of fun! Sorry, no video to post. I failed to check the camera batteries before dress rehearsal. (No video allowed during the actual recital -- I had to buy the video!)

Catching Up....

Well, once again, time got away from me, and the blog posts have been neglected. The next few posts will catch you up on the past few months at our house.

April/May brought the start of the annual home improvement projects. This year, we (or should I say, Jeff) put in a new entry door, a fresh coat of paint (Mississippi Mud is the color), changed the trim, light fixture, and the closet doors in our foyer for more of a craftsman style appearance. Here's the before:

And, the after:

Jeff did a great job, and it turned out great! On to the next project!
